End of June 2009. Eggs now hatched, three lively chicks, all seem well. One chick is somewhat bigger than the others, but all three seem to be getting more than adequate food. Very attentive parents.
August 3 2009. One juvenile and two adults found. Juvenile looks healthy, it now spends much of its time swimming on its own within a reasonable proximity to the nest, although it does make forays into the dock. The juvenile calls frequently, I think because of its need for food. The adults actually drive it off when it tries to get near, I think this is probably normal behaviour, they may be getting the youngster used to feeding itself, and it looks as though there may be the possibility of another set of eggs. They do dive near to the younster, perhaps as a learning demonstration. I would be interested in any other views on this behaviour.
